Multi-Trip Visitor Insurance Plan

Published by C. Ray Sondeo under Travel Tips

by C. Ray Sondeo

It is important to be insured before you plan a trip as health risks are increasing at an alarming level. If you are traveling abroad then multiple trip annual coverage is the ideal package. It is an emergency visitor medical insurance that that covers for you wherever you go within a year.

You may be required to travel abroad a number of times during the period of a year and may be accompanied by your family too. You should make sure that you always have a visitor health insurance. If your plan expires then you can extend it with the help of the Travel Underwriters. You can extend the time and duration of your policy.

There are quite a few types of travelers who need instant visitor medical insurance or visitor health insurance coverage. These types are enlisted with the travel insurance companies. Visitor medical insurance is the annual or multiple trip travel insurance plan. This plan is meant for business owners, corporate executives, or any other frequent traveler who requires visitor insurance coverage for multiple trips within a year.

One of the advantages of this plan is that coverage is already enforced when last minute travel is necessary. This avoids the need to buy the visitors insurance at the last minute. Also, purchasing annual multiple trip insurance is a great option for frequent travelers as it is so cheap. An annual insurance plan costs equivalent to the cost of two single trip plans.

The visitors insurance plans make provisions of some million dollars up to the validity of your policy. The number of days is fixed and the plan covers your expenses for only those many days. The duration of trips can be anything between six to one eighty days.

You may have to buy a top up to cover the days in excess of the number of days the annual plan covers, incase of the trip extending the maximum length allowed. Always make sure that you carry the policy with you. Also make sure that the plan you choose meets your demands suitably.

Through cheap annual plans, the visitor can insure as many trips as he makes throughout the year that he/she is insured for. A person can be covered against all kinds of mishaps or urgencies that happen with him and the reimbursements are to be made by the insurers.

It is very essential for you to know the various details of the visitor insurance plan you select. Make sure you are well aware of the terms and conditions stated in the policy and also find out information about the premiums. This will help you in deciding which plan to opt for depending on the premiums you have to pay. You should also be well informed about the multiple trip visitors insurance policies.

The policies should have affordable premiums so that all travelers can afford them. Another important thing to remember is that the person applying for the visitor health insurance or visitor medical insurance should be aware of his medical history and should inform the insurance providers of the same.

Air Travel mishaps and how to avoid them

Published by Russell Eaton under Travel Tips

by Russell Eaton

Here is a great list of tips for trouble-free air travel. An air trip can easily be ruined from just one small thing going wrong. Use these tips as a useful checklist whether you fly frequently or just occasionally.

Make sure your passport is not about to expire. Most people never think of this until it’s too late. It needs to be valid for at least six months beyond your return dates of travel. Some countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months or you may be refused entry.

It is important to decide what you will be taking as onboard hand luggage and what you will be consigning separately. Do this several days before you travel as it could affect what luggage bags you take. It could also affect your air ticket booking, particularly if booking online. Check that you know what luggage restrictions may apply.

Confirm flight times and dates for all portions of your trip to make sure that it matches up with your information.

Make a photocopy of your air travel itinerary and your passport photo page, and leave copies with your workplace and family members or friends. This is a very useful contingency in case you suffer a mishap or in case you need to be contacted in an emergency. Include phone numbers and addresses of where you can be contacted.

If traveling internationally make sure that you have the correct visas that may apply. Check whether you need a business or tourist visa and apply accordingly.

Make a photocopy of your passport, visas and other essential travel information. Pack this copy in your luggage in case the original documents are stolen or lost.

Bring a copy of your medical history with you. This could simply involve listing any medical conditions, blood type, etc. If you are allergic to any medications, include this information. When traveling internationally try to have these items listed in the local language (if possible).

If traveling abroad here is a great tip: prepare a list of key phrases written in the local language such as thank you, please, where is, help, how much, and so on. You just need a small piece of paper showing a dozen or so key phrases.

Thieves and opportunists also travel by air. Therefore do not assume that the airline cabin is a theft-free zone. Never leave valuables on or near your airline seat - always take them with you when leaving your seat.

Constantly be aware of your surroundings while in the airport. Many thieves go to airport specifically to steal.

Once you’re on board the aircraft you’re still not ‘home and dry’. For tips relating to the air trip itself, see Air Travel Safety Secrets. This free ebook reveals extraordinary safety information that airlines don’t tell you. To get this free ebook see download information below.

A Florida Villa of a Hotel

Published by Craig Walker under Vacations

by Craig Walker

Once you have arranged your flights to Florida you will then need to decide whether you stay in a hotel or do you rent a private villa? Your choice will depend on what your requirements are and the size of your family or group travelling.

Most travellers from Europe are generally used to staying in hotel acommodation when they go on their usual European holiday however the option to rent a private villa is more common in Florida than anywhere else.

What are the main differences between a normal holiday hotel as against staying in a private villa?

When you stay in a hotel room generally all the family are in the one room and depending on how many are travelling you may need more than one room which will add to the costs. When you have a private holiday home you will have more than one bedroom and a couch that can be made into another bed. So if you need more than one bedroom a villa can offer you this and may work out cheaper than having to get three separate hotel rooms.

The quality of the furnishings in the private homes and villas are generally of an excellent standard and are more spacious than a hotel room. A lot of the villas are privately owned and the owners use thyem themselves most times of the year.

There is a if you have more than one hotel room you may not get them together. It is even possible that you might be on one floor and the other room could be on another. If the accommodation has more than one building you could have one room in one and the other room in another.

Noisy neighbours can be a problem in the evenings if the people in the next room are out late and are not particularly quiet upon their return. This can be particularly annoying if it happens a few times and does not help you relax and enjoy your holiday.

A typical villa in Florida will have cooking facilities and a fridge that you can fill with drinks. Unlike in a hotel you don’t need change for a vending machine located on another floor or need to wander around looking for the ice machine that is on another.

Some of the villas you can rent come with their own swimming pool which are generally quite small however it will only be you and your friends and family using it. Hotels generally have large pools which are shared between all the guests.

Don’t forget if you are travelling in the quieter months you may need to pay extra to heat the swimming pool. Charges vary depending on the villa you rent however a charge of around $40 a day can be normal. This is an expense you would not incur if you were staying in a hotel.

Nero’s Domus Aurea - An Ancient Rome Tourist Attraction Delight

Published by Jill Kammer under Travel Tips

by Jill Kammer

Recently an important attraction in Rome was opened for public viewing again. While the Golden House of Nero is not at its full splendor, it has been carefully restored. It was during the Renaissance that these ruins were found. But a huge project to restore them was carried out at the end of the last century.

Nero’s luxurious home was built after the famous fire that almost wiped out Rome while Nero fiddled. Nero built his palace in 64 AD and turned it into a storehouse of riches and art works. When it was at its finest, there was gold foil everywhere and the ceilings were covered with fine gems and ivory. But these lovely things were stripped from the palace after Nero’s death.

Nero’s opulent home actually covered a huge 350 acre grounds which boasted fine vineyards and a lake made just for him. But something unusual about this “home” of Nero’s is that there were no bedrooms in any of the 300 rooms. This is not to say that during those wild orgies we know about, many didn’t just fall in a stupor all around the house and grounds.

One artistic marvel that stood at the site was a magnificent statue of Nero. This huge figure stood 40m (130ft) high. But it was moved to the Coliseum, just leaving the bronze base behind.

If your trip to Rome includes a tour of this fascinating old house, it will be a great experience even though the house was destroyed centuries ago. And since Rome is a delightful destination - especially in the fall when the temperatures are perfect, touring Nero’s house fits any vacation agenda.

A great way to take in this ancient structure is through the guided underground tour that goes lets you view the amazing paintings in the vaults and rooms. This is a rare chance to see artwork done by the famous artist Fabullus who used the Pompeii artistic style.

While you might not have heard of Fabullus, he had a huge influence on some very well known artists including Raphael and Michelangelo, as well as Casanova and the Marquis de Sade. Pay close attention because you will see the actual signatures of those fabled artists etched right into the walls of the palace.

The tour will open your eyes to another world as you see ruins still not fully restored, hiding amazing ancient art works. But when you see rooms that look like they did during Nero’s time, the artwork and luxurious design will take your breath away.

You will get a good exposure to grotto style rooms during your tour. But when you enter the amazing Octagon room, it will be a true highlight of the day. This room showed Nero’s admiration of that famous emperor and the Dying Gaul statue that was housed there, that can now be seen elsewhere at the Palazzo Altemps museum.

But don’t miss out on enjoying the great gardens and grounds during your stay. The organizers also have a replica of the Octagonal Room for you to examine which will give you a real feel for how it was to live in this amazing time in history in Nero’s house.

A Villa in Florida or a Hotel

Published by Jack Nory under Vacations

by Craig Walker

Once you have arranged your flights to Florida you will then need to decide whether you stay in a hotel or do you rent a private villa? Your choice will depend on what your requirements are and the size of your family or group travelling.

When people in Europe go on holiday they generally stay in a hotel or a self catering apartment. In Florida the option to stay in a private villa is not normally available and is something new to consider

What could be the main differences between a private holiday villa as compared to a normal hotel in Florida?

Normally in a hotel you would only get one room for your family and depending on how many people are travelling you may need more than one room which will obviously add to the costs. Most private holiday homes will have between two to three bedrooms and possibly a fold down couch in another room. So if the number of people travelling will not fit into a hotel room or you just want more privacy on holiday then a villa could be the option.

Villas are generally furnished to a very high standard and offer more space than any hotel room would. Most villas are privately owned and the owners use them at certain times of the year.

In your Florida villa you will have cooking facilities should you wish as well as a fridge to stock up with drinks so you don’t need to keep going down to the next floor with your ice bucket and a hand full of change for a vending machine.

Some of the villas you can rent come with their own swimming pool which are generally quite small however it will only be you and your friends and family using it. Hotels generally have large pools which are shared between all the guests.

In the colder months of the year you may need to pay extra to heat the villas swimming pool. This comes at an extra cost and this can be around $40 per day. This would not be payable if you were staying at a hotel.

Tweed and the Isle of Harris

Published by Angus Macleod under Vacations

by Angus Macleod

Scotland has played an incredibly important role in the development of Western society. Scottish folk have made their mark on all continents of the world in all aspects of life from the development of the first national park in America to the spread of Christianity in Africa and Asia. However Scotland is only a very small country and when we think of it we tend to consider such things as Tartan, Kilts bagpipes and Harris Tweed.

Though the vast majority consider tartan and Harris Tweed to be fundamentally traditional Scottish nothing could be further from the truth. In actual fact much of what we consider to be traditionally Scottish was a purely Victorian exaggeration (and some say an invention). The famous author Sir Walter Scott and others took elements of the Scottish Highland culture and redesigned it in a more palatable form for the King of England. When Queen Victoria and Albert fell in love with the country more such creations developed to please the Royals and their parties.

It could be said that Sir Walter Scott and Queen Victoria created the Scottish tourism industry. Although there had been earlier visitors to Scotland they were few and far between as the country was remote and communication links were poor. Throughout the Victorian period interest in Scotland grew and, with the advent of railway systems, Scotland became the playground of the upper classes who indulged in hunting, fishing and golf.

While a small number of visitors ventured as far as the Outer Hebrides the majority wore Harris Tweed. Harris Tweed, produced only on the Isle of Harris (and Lewis) is a hard wearing and durable cloth of somber colors which was ideally suited for use in clothing for the Victorian and Edwardian upper class visitors. In 1844 the Earl of Dunmore had asked the weavers of Harris to create a cloth in a similar style to the Murray Tartan. Much encouraged by Lady Dunmore the cloth was made in various styles and quickly became popular.

Harris Tweed is heavily protected, it can only be produced in the Outer Hebrides and the methods used to make it have changed little over the centuries. The cloth is hand made and was used local wool, colored using dyes made from locally occurring plants. The cloth was incredibly tough and it was a long time before other products from abroad encroached into it’s markets however the industry eventually decreased.

In many ways Harris Tweed has remained a popular material with many and the typical Harris Tweed jacket still sells extremely well. In recent years use of the material has diversified greatly and has been used in high fashion on a number of occasions. It is now possible to find a wide selection of product made from it and companies, such as Nike, have recognized it’s qualities and used it in their products.

While depopulation continues to be a problem in the Hebrides much has been done to stimulate industry. Today one of the most important industries is the tourist trade which continues to grow year by year and is now a major element in the local economy. Crofting and the weaving of Harris Tweed continue to have a role but, unfortunately, the tweed industry suffered a major set back with the closure of the main mill. While the future of the industry is uncertain it is likely that there will be an enormous effort to regenerate it.

There is plenty to attract the visitor to the Isle of Harris, the rich Gaelic culture, the incredible number of archaeological sites, the unique flora and fauna and, last but not least, some of the most astounding landscapes to be seen in Scotland and the United Kingdom. Getting there is now easier than ever and while there are airports most travel by road across to the Isle of Skye and then by ferry to the village of Tarbert or Lochmaddy in Uist.

Safety Tips To Keep In Mind While On A Vacation.

Published by Roshan Prasad under Travel Tips

by Henry P. Jones

To make travel more enjoyable and less stressful (owing to how often things go wrong) it is often a good idea to re-iterate a few simple rules that can help prevent disaster. Often these problems can leave a bitter taste in the mouth and leave you with a dislike of the destination, its people and cost a great deal of money. In the worst case scenarios, passports, credit cards and cash may have to be replaced.

Maybe it’s just that traveling safely requires some common sense and most of the time these days, we do not require it as someone else is always accountable for our mistakes! If you ever get that distinct feeling that something is wrong, which often happens on vacation, that’s your instinct giving you a warning that you should take notice of.

Always be careful about traveling with all your documents and money if you are just going to town to see the sights or have a meal. Take just what you need for the day and leave the rest in the hotel safe as it is better to lose a little, rather then everything.

A handy tip is to place a small amount of money in a number of locations like bags or pockets then if you happen to lose a bag, visa card or money, you will still have something there to keep you going until it can be resolved. As an added safety measure, when traveling, carry credit cards from different accounts then should one be lost or stolen there is a second to fall back on.

Some people just make it easy for snatch thieves who specialize in grabbing bags and cameras for unsuspecting tourists who have them hanging from their shoulder so to prevent this make sure the strap is over the head as well. If you are the person carrying the camera or bag, then walk away from the edge of the road where it is easy for motorcycle thieves to grab something and make a quick getaway.

There are many ways to scam tourists and you are vulnerable when you are on vacation so it is an easy task as these people are very good at what they do. Complacency is a dangerous trait and we have all been guilty of it when we are on vacation, remember this is what they do every day to make money and feed their families.

If you use a small backpack or day bag when wondering the streets or local markets why not buy a small padlock because would be pickpockets will be put off straight away. Another good idea is to use a hikers (or climbers) small shackle that can be used to safely secure your keys to a belt or bag for those people that frequently lose their keys.

One of the biggest problems is with wallets as the vast majority of men carry them in a back pocket and this is an easy target for any criminal so try varying your normal routine and place it in a front pocket or similar.

The only reason these types of events happen on vacation is most people are not traveling safely so by maintaining your guard, many awkward situations can be avoidable.

Aberdeen Flights

Published by Jack Nory under Travel Tips

by Craig Wilson

Looking for a flight to Aberdeen is a simpler process than it was a few years ago before the arrival of the internet and the arrival of all the new low cost airlines. There are now more and more destinations and options to choose from when looking for a flight from Aberdeen or indeed to Aberdeen. By doing a simple amount of research you can save money and get the best flight times for your journey.

How do you get the best fares and flight times for your trip to Aberdeen? You can phone a travel agent and ask them who has flights to Aberdeen. Phone around the airlines to see who operates flights to Aberdeen from your chosen airport. If you have time simply do some searching yourself online with the help of the internet

Quickest and easiest option is generally not always the cheapest and by calling a travel agent to find the best flight to Aberdeen for you will probably cost you more. Travel agents will add a booking fee on top of the airlines fare as the airlines pay either a very small commission or none at all. They have the necessary tools to find the flights for you however this is generally the more expensive option.

Calling all the airlines can be expensive and take some considerable time. This is definitely the last option you should take in your quest for your flight to Aberdeen. The low cost airlines tend to have reservation call centres with high premium phone rates and can have the worst customer service. Not only could you waste time calling an airline that does not have flights to Aberdeen is could cost you money to find out.

Online internet search engines can provide all the information you need once you find the most relevant web site featuring Aberdeen flights. Simply input a search such as “Aberdeen Flights” or “Aberdeen cheap flight” and look for the most suitable web site from the results. To do this, simply visit either MSN, Google or Yahoo and it could be as simple as that.

Prices for off-peak flights are always the cheapest, so try and travel on the off-peak flights to Aberdeen and on especially mid-week flights as this can help keep the costs down. Remember the cheaper the fare the more restrictions they tend to have on them so if you have to have a flexible then the cheapest fare may not be the best one for you. Book as early as possible as the low cost airlines tend to put some of their best fares online first. This is especially applicable for busier dates and routes

Don’t worry about booking your flight to Aberdeen online, credit card fraud is not a common as you think. If you are worried simply call the airline direct now that you know they have the flights at the times and a cost that suits you. Travel agents can be more useful if you flight is long haul rather than if you are just looking for a flight Aberdeen to Manchester. They can suggest alternative routes via different airports and airlines to get you cheaper flights.

A good idea is to pay for flights by credit card as this offers you some financial protection. Always take a printout of your booking and make sure you use a valid email address. Most airlines no longer issue tickets and all you need to travel is the booking reference or the email confirmation you receive.
